Hertha Berlin is one of the oldest football clubs in Germany. It was founded in 1892 under the cooperation of a group of four friends, one of whom took the name Hertha, the name of a ship the founder met, and named the team Hertha. The ship's name derives from the name of an elderly woman in German mythology, giving Hertha Berlin the nickname "The Old Lady" later on.
